The dress codes come with names like "philanthropy round" and "preference night," and the gap between what the official packet says and what people actually wear is wide enough to drive a Suburban through. Consider this the unofficial translation.
One rule before we start: every round, the houses are looking at your face, not your shoes. The outfit's job is to make you comfortable enough to hold a conversation in a loud room for twenty minutes. Everything below is in service of that.
Round One: The T-Shirt Round
You'll be given a shirt. Everyone wears the same shirt. This is the round where the bottom half does all the talking — and where most people overthink it. The actual uniform: tailored shorts or a denim skirt, and the most comfortable cute shoes you own, because you will walk miles. This is not the day for the new sandals. This is the day for the sandals that have already proven themselves.
Sisterhood Round: The Sundress Olympics
This is the round people picture when they picture rush: the sundress, the heat, the curls that gave up by 10 a.m. The move is a dress you'd wear to a nice brunch — not a wedding, not a night out. Cotton and linen win. Anything that requires fashion tape loses, because you'll be hugging roughly four hundred people.

Pref is the dressy one — think elevated dinner, lean toward classic over trendy. What You Can Skip
